After a night of timelapse photography, another glorious morning light and a short sleep we took to the Perito Moreno. As we had to circle the southern arm of the Lago Argentino on mostly dirt roads and stopped for some pictures we needed 2 hours for this. We also came across the participants of the Patagonia Run, the local marathon.

On location we hiked on the shore of Lago Argentinos northern arm until this wonder of the world came into sight: the Perito Moreno Glacier who’s tongue feeds and pushes into the lake episodically bisecting it into a smaller southern arm, Brazo Rico, and a bigger northern arm, Canal de los Témpanos. When we visited Patagonia in April 2014 the gap was about 20 meters and had started to close again. Since then the gap closed three times and ruptured in 2016, 2018 and 2019. All this is due to the Perito Moreno being one of the few unusual glaciers that maintains in a state of equilibrium and does not decrease.
