Late in the evening we arrived in the Estancia Nibepo Aike. Like many other estancias Nibepo Aike is not only a typically Argentine farm but also a holiday resort. Lying close to the southern arm of the Lago Argentino we reached there at the end of a dirt road after 55 km from El Calafate. Situated in the most southern part of the Los Glaciares National Park the view is dominated by the first chain of the Andes.

Here we enjoyed a cosy atmosphere, rural life and the peace and tranquillity of a place near the end of the world. From here we started excursions to the Perito Moreno glacier, Lago Argentino and the petrified forest of La Leona.

What impressed me the most were the everchanging grand landscapes that make You humble. And how many Caracara we came across?! I never had heard of this a bird of prey of the Falconidae family. They were all around maybe because of the Estancias as the Caracara plancus mainly feeds on carcasses of dead animals.

Mornings and evenings offer wonderful warm lights. Our group of photographers appreciated this very much as You might see on this page. And during the nights we tried our first timelapses – succeeding more bad than right at least as far as I am concerned.
