Australia is a small town in Mantanzas Province. It is known for it's sugar factory which was the first to stop slavery work. Fidel Castro chose it as his operational base against Bay of Pigs invasion in 1961. Today the sugar factory is abandoned and nearby there is a railway museum. South of Australia the Zapata Swamp (Ciénaga de Zapata; Sumpf von Zapata) begins with several areas of environmental preservation. We visited one of the crocodile farms.
