Namibia: Namib Desert, Walvisbay, Swakopmund

Through the The Namib Desert, one of the world's oldest and dryest deserts to the coast of the Atlantic ocean where the cold Benguela Current coming from the Antarctic hits the surface taking with him lots of fish and animlas feeding on fish such as pelians, whales, seals and humans.

  • Kuiseb-Canyon. The Kuiseb is one of biggest ephemeral rivers in Namibia, a wadi or a rivier.
  • Vogelfederberg, a very natural campsite with practically no facilities but butyful sunset in the midst of the Namib Desert. When the sun sinks humidity rises as clouds from the sea and spreads as fog over the desert.
  • So in the following our 4WD is surrounded by fog which is the only source for plants. There are days when the sun needs hours to solve the fog.
  • On the seaside of Walvis Bay there is a cloudy foggy day still. The Atlantic Ocean seems quiet, but It is cold as the Benguela Current coming from the Antarctica ascends here. It carries lots of fish. It's fertileness attracts whales, seals and pelicans.

  • Swakopmund is a former German colonial town and a beach resort as it is situated both in the Namib desert and on the Atlantic Ocean. The picture shows the lighthouse and the"Staatshaus" a former courthouse and present summerseat of the president.
