Dogon - Falaise de Bandiagara

We are approaching now one the highlights on this journey, another world heritage: The Dogon country at the Falaise de Bandiagra.
The Dogon are an ethnic group that fled into this dry inhospitable area a thousand years ago because they wanted to keep their own religion rather than convert to Islam.
The Sigi-ritual is a celebration of the Dogon taking place every 60 years. It was made famous by french ethnologist, Marcel Griaule. He visitied and studied the Dogon in the 1930s.
